6/17/2007 12:02:05 AM

Jammu June 16—
Opposing anti- labour policies of the present governments at the Centre and the State, All Indian Trade Union Congress (AITUC) Chairman, Atamjeet Singh announced that their struggle would continue till the demands of workers are not met. The AITUC will relentlessly fight against communalism in all its forms and seek to defend the secular foundtio0n of the society, he asserted.
Supporting the Citizen Cooperative Bank Association Union, Singh said, ‘The bank which is facing serious crisis for last few years was declared weak by RBI because of increasing Non-performing assets and consistent mismanagement of the bank deteriorated the position of the bank from bad to worst. He alleged that even the government board under the administrative control of Divisional Commissioner Jammu also supported the internal corrupt machinery keeping number of enquiries unfinalized to allow leakages and misplaying with the public money.
He said when subordinate staff association has been fighting tooth and nail to save the financial public institution, the AITUC warns the Registrar Cooperative Societies and others to rise to the occasion and give due consideration to the genuine demands without exercising impartial approach and assume their responsibility towards bank which is only commercial cooperative unit of Jammu district and first one of the State, he added.
Singh also demanded enquiry into the properties of all the Directors of the PSU’s in the state so that the money collected by illegal means should come in front of all
‘Warnings that any attempt to malign and marginalize the trade union movement shall be resisted’ the AITUC Chief reminded the nation that ‘destroying trade union movement and its weakening shall only lead to growth of perverted capitalist system and promote economic fascism in the country’.
