| Shamsher demands probe into irregularities in CADP | | ‘Less quantity of rations being supplied to Jammu region’ | |
Jammu | June 16 Coming down heavily on the Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution (CAPD) Department for not discharging its duties towards the people, particularly Jammuities, BJP State General Secretary Shamsher Singh Manhas today demanded a through probe by a person of known integrity to look into the irregularities being perpetuated by the said department in distribution of ration items. Giving figures, Shamsher Singh Manhas disclosed that the monthly sanctioned quota of atta for Jammu region is 45,000 quintals but only 6,000 quintals is released for distribution among the public. In the same way, the sanctioned quota of rice for the region is 38,000 quintals but the quantity released is just 6,000 quintals. Not only this, sanctioned quota of kerosene oil for Jammu region is 2300 kilo litres, of which 300 kilo litre is released for distribution and the remaining 2,000 kilo litres is diverted to the valley. Shamsher also criticized the government for ordering suspension of some Inspectors of CAPD department with one stroke of pen. He said if the department was in receipt of any complaint against any of these Inspectors, it should have conducted inquiry and taken action against those found guilty instead of keeping all of them in same category. This is not justified and BJP opposes it tooth and nail, said Shamsher Singh Manhas.
