| 8 injured in grenade attack | | | Srinagar June 16 Eight persons, including three CRPF personnel, were injured when unidentified militants lobbed a hand grenade near Bandipora town of North Kashmir, on Saturday morning. Official sources said that militants targeted a Road Opening Party (ROP) of 176 Bn of CRPF near Kani Bachi on Sopore-Bandipora Road , falling under the jurisdiction of Police Station Bandipora and lobbed a hand grenade towards the troops. The grenade exploded on the road side injuring five persons including three troopers and five civilians, an official spokesman said. Reports reaching here revealed that panic gripped the area after the blast as CRPF personnel opened fire in air presuming it as a fidayeen attack. As the things calm down, police and local residents shifted the injured to a local hospital, where condition of three of them was stated to be critical. A man hunt was launched in the area, which was cordoned off immediately after the blast. However, militants managed to escape from the spot, the reports added
