DDC discusses Amarnath Yatra arrangements

KATHUA, JUNE 16
In Order to discuss the arrangements for the pilgrims of ensuing Shri Amarnath Yatra, District Development Commissioner, Kathua, Sarita Chauhan, convened a high level meeting here.
District officers of various concerned departments, representatives from political parties and NGOs and prominent citizens attended the meeting.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kathua, Mr. Laj Ram, SE hydraulic Assistant Commissioner,(Development), Kathua, Chief Education Officer, AC Revenue, Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Deputy Commissioner Excise, Kathua, Engineers of PHE, PDD and R&B, other District Officers were present.
Threadbare discussions were held on various arrangements for smooth passage of Shri Amaranth pilgrims through out the district like Drinking water supply, Power supply, Sanitation, Medicare facilities at important places like Lakhanpur, langar sites and other destinations including traffic regularization.
Sarita Chauhan exhorted upon the officers to initiate the necessary steps for facilitating the yatries enroute the district right from Lakhanpur to Jatwal, ensure proper Sanitation, Medical aid, regulation of rates of eatables and maintenance of their quality and ensure standby arrangements for boarding the yatries. Chief Education Officer, Kathua and AC (Development) were asked to make available all the school buildings/ other accommodations along the National Highway for the stay of the yatries as and when the need arises during the Yatra days.
The DDC directed the XEN’s of PHE and PDD to provide drinking water and power connections at the langer sites and the schools. Likewise CMO, Kathua was directed to depute doctors and para-medical staff along with first Aid and other life saving drugs on langer sites besides fully equipping the Primary Health Centers and Medical Aid Centers along the National Highway with sufficient medicines with special provision of ambulances. Police authorities were asked to deploy adequate security personnel on important pilgrims assembling sites and put up police posts at Lakhanpur and Dyalachak to divert the pilgrims towards Dhar Road as and as when any congestion on the national highway occurs. The DDC also constituted a high level committee of officers for the day-to-day monitoring of the Yatra and regulation of rates and maintenance of quality of eatables.
The face lifting of Lakhanpur being the gateway of Jammu and Kashmir should be done on priority, which includes proper sanitation, maintenance of existing of public conveniences, construction of mobile conveniences and their proper cleaning, she added. For this the DDC asked the Executive Officers, MCs, Lakhanmpur and Kathua to deploy Safaiwalas and install adequate number of dustbins.
