| Azad’s Bhaderwah: owner’s pride neighbour’s envy | | |
Bhaderwah, June 16: Once described as the mini Kerala of India for its literacy rate and then taking over the status of “hot bed of terrorist activities” to know emerging as marvellous adventure destination on tourist map of country, the Bhaderwah hamlet has fast undergone a metamorphosis –courtesy: Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, who represents the constituency as local legislator. Ever since Azad got elected as legislator from Bhaderwah in April last year there has been a huge developmental activity. While a Central University is drawing up an urban expansion plan for Bhaderwah, the Jammu University has submitted to the Chief Minister a sustainable basin development program with its implications extended up to 2020. The Chief Minister who has been off to Bhaderwah to kick start the local festival attended a confab and witnessed screening of the education and tourism development plan mooted by the University of Jammu. He referred to important road projects being executed in Doda district including Kahra-Jai, Jai-Gandoh and double-laning of Bhadarwah-Pul Doda and Bhadarwah-Chamba roads. Vice Chancellor Jammu University Mr. Amitabh Mattoo described the seminar as a step forward in creating educational and tourism related awareness among the people of Chenab basin in particular. He said that university could play a greater role in dissemination of such awareness. He said that the seminar would go a long way in formulating policies for speedier development of Chenab basin.
