| Rakshabandhan in Raj Bhavan | | | Srinagar, Aug 9 – It was Rakshabandhan with difference in Raj Bhavan this afternoon, 24 innocent girls of SOS children’s Village Srinagar tied colourful Rakhis to governor, Lt. Gen (Retd) S K Sinha and got the blessings of bright future and prosperious life. Though running fever for some days, General Sinha on his return from Shri Amarnathji cave shrine kept his date with the children and spent quite a time with them. He also enquired about the facilities available to children in the home. Attired in festival costumes, the children interacted with the governor and briefed him about their home. The General recalled his visit to SOS children villages in various states particularly Assam, where he was holding gubernatorial assignment before coming over to Jammu and Kashmir. He appreciated the voluntary work of the Home in nourishing and nurturing not-so-lucky children by providing them all avenues besides family environment. Present on the occasion were Mr. R N Yadav, Director J&K Mr. Sudesh Malla Director Jammu and Mr. Naushad Raja Director Srinagar Villages. A get together was also hosted for children in Raj Bhavan. |
