| Physics & Electronics, Geography Depttswin ties in JU cricket | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 15: Department of Physics and Electronics and Department of Geography won their respective matches to move into the next round of the ongoing Cricket Tournament of University of Jammu, organised by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education on the campus ground, here today. In the first match of the day, Department of Physics and Electronics trounced Department of Urdu by a margin of 12 runs. Earlier, batting first, Physics and Electronics made 144 runs for seven wickets. Vishal made highest 33 runs while Vishal Choudhary and Anil contributed 26 and 23 runs respectively. From Urdu, PP Singh took three wickets while Naseeb Ali secured two. In reply, Department of Urdu could not chase the total and exhausted their quota of 20 overs for 132 runs. Naseeb Ali played fine innings of 45 while Barkat Ali and PP Singh contributed 29 and 13 runs respectively. From Physics and Electronics, Vishal, Narotam, Chandan Lal and Rohit Dogra shared apiece each. Meanwhile, in other match of the day, Department of Geography outplayed School of Hotel and Tourism Management (SHTM) by seven wickets. Batting first, SHTM made 109 runs for four wickets. Inder Puneet and Rajat were main scorers with 26 and 22 runs in their respective accounts while Shubam added 17 runs. From Geography, Deepak took two wickets, followed by Vijay and Rajesh, who shared apiece each. Later, Geography chased the target of 110 runs in 14.4 overs losing three wickets. Sahil Sharma remained top scorer with 40-ball 40 runs while Vijay Thakur and Mubarak added 26 and 16 runs respectively. From SHTM, Rajat bagged two wickets and Ishan took one. Today's matches officiated by the technical penal including Pankaj Sasun, Raj Kumar Bakshi, Saleem-ur-Rehman, Suresh Singh and Ryees were umpires while Manu Khajuria was scorer. |
