| Coalition fails to address problems of womenfolk, Sadhotra | | |
Jammu | June 17 The Provincial President of National Conference (NC) Ajay Sadhotra has charged the coalition government for its failure in addressing the problems of women folk in the state. Addressing the workers of the women wing of the party here today, convened by ex-MLA, Bimla Luthra, he said, the pathetic condition of women in far-flung areas indicates that the government has completely forgotten them and shares no responsibility. He said despite having various schemes for the development of women, Social Welfare Department could not attract more women entrepreneurs for opening of centers even some of them have been complaining of disparity at the hands of some officers in distribution of swing machines and widow pension. He regretted that the Women Commission in the state is headless for last several years. Luthra in her address assured the women that their problems would be addressed and NC will leave no stone unturned to provide equal opportunities to the woman community in all spheres of life. The meeting also discussed the problems being faced by women of the rural and border areas particularly those living below poverty line. Wazir, Vinod Bala, Sham Mehra, Veena Obroi, Satwant Kour, Rita Gupta, Lalita Sharma, Sushma Sani, Neelam Sharma, Rekha Manhas, Veena Chowdhary, Madhu Verma, Koshylia, Sarfaraz Begum, Parveen Akhter, Hajra Bibi, Lalita Andhotra, Pinky Bhat and Santosh Handoo.
