| Tarigami demands relocation of power tariff hike | | | Srinagar June 17 CPI (M) State Secretary and MLA Kulgam Mr. M. Y. Tarigami has urged the government to take a serious view for withdrawing the proposed increase in power tariff. Terming the hike as unwarranted burden on the consumers and small unit holders, Mr. Tarigami said that a comprehensive and long term policy be framed immediately to streamline and strengthened the transmission and distribution system besides curbing the power pilferage. Expressing his concern over non-utilization of Rs. 95 crore allocated to the state under centre sponsored APDRP, Mr. Tarigami stressed for early revalidation of these un-utilization funds to augment rural electrification. Mr. Tarigami said that the hike in power tariff is in-genuine owing to the fact that the domestic consumers as well as unit holders of the state are not provided the electric supply as per schedule and needs. He said that even after metering this deficiency has not made to cater to the requirements of the consumers which, he said, has evoked a resentment and unrest among the common masses. He has suggested for reviewing the decision and taking measures for justified power tariff policy.
