| Congress can put an end to political stalemate in J-K: Soz | | |
SRINAGAR, JUNE 17 Union Water Resources Minister Saifuddin Soz today asked the people of Jammu and Kashmir to strengthen the Congress party, saying that it can put an end to the political stalemate and bring about peaceful atmosphere in the state. Strengthening of the Congress party is the need of the hour as UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi is keen on the prosperity and overall development of the state, Soz said addressing a public gathering at Dumhal Hanjipora in Kulgam district of south Kashmir. Soz congratulated Gandhi on telephone for taking a bold step to nominate Pratiba Patil as presidential candidate. The Union minister said he was hopeful that Patil would succeed uncontested. Soz announced Rs 6.58 crore project for construction of several water supply schemes in the area. He directed for a Rs 18 crore project for two water supply schemes at Damhal Yaroo and Hakhwashan Gujjar Bungward. Addressing the gathering, Education Minister and president JKPCC Peerzada Mohammed Syed said his party always believed in solution of all issues through dialogue. Peerzada exuded confidence that the peace process would reach to its logical conclusion, adding trade between India and Pakistan would start soon through the road links opened on the line of control. Peerzada said his party would never allow division of the state. The chairman handicrafts corporation and Congress MLA Haji Abdul Rasheed Dar announced setting up of 10 handicraft training centers in the area to provide various handicraft training to the woman folk.
