Continuing with his efforts to build a consensus over Pratibha Patil's candidature for Presidentship, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had a meeting today with National Conference President Omar Abdullah here.
The Prime Minister, during his 30-minute meeting with Abdullah emphasised on the need for having a consensual candidate for the President, sources said. National Conference is the single largest party in the Jammu and Kashmir State Assembly.
During the meeting, the sources added, the two also discussed the present situation in the militancy-torn state and the ongoing peace process with Paksitan.
