Farooq may still join Raisina race

Jammu, June 17: With UPA-Left combined candidate and Rajasthan Governor Pratibha Patil almost certain to become first women President of India next month, the maverick of Indian politics and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah may be still a ceremonial candidate in electoral race to the Raisina Hills.
The Third Front is considering the name of Dr Abdullah, if ever the Front decided to take part in the presidential elections.
The Third Front will announce its Presidential candidate tomorrow, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief N Chandrababu Naidu was quoted by agencies as saying today.
Talking to newspersons at Hyderabad, Naidu said the front would also decide its future course of action at its meeting to be held tomorrow in Chennai.
He said the front would field its candidate for the President's post.
Party sources said the front was considering fielding former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah or former Supreme Court Justice Fatima Bibi as its candidate.
