After completing 5 years fate of R-e-T teachers still hanging
Teachers allege 'pick and choose' regularisation
6/18/2007 11:29:26 PM

Rajouri, June 18, 2007
Despite completing the five years term fixed by the government for the regularisation of Rehber-eTaleem teachers, scores of candidates who have completed the five years term some six months back have still no hope to get regularised in border district Poonch. All such candidates allege that the recommendations for the regularisation are made on pick and choose basis by the education authorities. They also alleged that the recommendations are only made after a candidate satisfies his/her concerned office with a handsome amount.
According to some of the appointment letters available with this correspondent, at least seven teachers of block Balakote in border district Poonch were appointed under Rehber-e-Taleem scheme vide order no DDCP/RT/115/54 dated 20-11-2001. As per this appoint letter, all these teachers completed their term of five years on 20-11-2006. But none of them have been regularised till date despite their repeated requests and representations made to the concerned authorities. Giving their long saga of sufferings during their past five years and the callous attitude of education authorities, Zaheen Kouser posted at p/s Mandanar and Aneesa Khatoon posted at p/s Thaari in block Balakote said that they have completed their term of five years some seven months ago but till date they have not been regularised for the reasons best known to the education authorities only. "We are unable to understand that some of their colleagues have been regularised soon after the completion of their term but our fate is still hanging in the sky", they said. These were not the isolated instances, Mohammad Shakoor of p/s Kanyal, Mohammad Jabbar of p/s Summiti, Abida Khatoon of p/s Margharnar, Mohammad Zaffar of p/s Lower Manjhari, and Sheen Akhter of p/s Bawli have also same stories to tell.
Wishing not to be named, some of the aggrieved R-e-T teachers alleged that the recommendations of regularisation are made on 'Pick and Choose' basis and only those recommendations are sent to the directorate of education for further confirmation who pay the hefty amount to the concerned local education authorities. On being contacted Chief Education office Poonch , an official present in the office said that these case have also been recommended to Director Education some time back but as the post of director is lying vacant for past some months that is why the official work has suffered and this is the result of that suffering. Taking serious note of the complaints that the candidates are regularised on pick and choose basis, MLA Mendhar, Javaid Ahmed Rana told 'Early Times ' on telephone from Srinagar that he will take up the matter with the government admitting that he has also received some complaints in this regard. " I have decided to take up this matter with Chief Minster soon and any officer found guilty of the act would not be spared. Some complaints have also been brought to my notice that the teachers are regularised on discriminatory basis and I can not bare it", said Ranna.
