BHADERWAH, JUN18—The Bhaderwah tourist festival that entered the 4th day today is being attended by thousands of people daily. The town which had been the militant’s bastion during the last seventeen years is looking for a brighter future and heavy influx of tourists this year.
The cultural evenings which were the peoples’ entertainments in the past, and forgotten all these years, have again been revived, evoking massive peoples’ participation.
As a part of the fortnight long tourist festival which was inaugurated by the Union Tourism Minister, a cultural program was held in the historical Seri Bazaar Bhaderwah which was witnessed by over 5,000 people
The musical evening was organized by the Bhaderwah Development Authority in collaboration with J&K Academy of Art Culture and Languages in which hundreds of artists, singers, dancers and musicians from the state as well as from other parts of the country participated and made the evening beautiful. The artists enthralled the audience with their superb performances winning applause from the jam packed audience.
Not caring the militant threats, the people, especially the women and children witnessed the show without any fear or threat.
The famous Sufi singer from Punjab Dev Dildar impressed the audience with his performance including ‘Bullay Shah Kalam’ and Punjabi songs. The audience did not control itself and even danced to the melodious tunes .The program continued till midnight, unheard of during the last nearly two decades of turmoil.

The traditional Deko Dance of Bhaderwah was the main attraction of today’s program held at Nalthi, Bhadarwah, a picturesque spot covered with lush green forests and snow peaks. The students of Bisco School, Delhi presented skits while an essay writing competition was held at degree College Bhaderwah.
The town which had seen much blood shed in the past has been tastefully decorated and presents a new look with the hope that the tourists in large numbers would visit this beautiful place popularly known as ‘Mini Kashmir’. The beauty of the area lies in its people, snow capped hillocks, lush green forests. It is hoped that organizing this type of tourist festival would give a big boost to the tourism sector in Bhaderwah and its adjacent places of tourist interest.
