| 10+2, B. Sc selected as teacher; MA B. Ed ignored | | HC directs to reserve one post in SC Category | |
JAMMU, JUNE 18 Justice YP Nargotra of Jammu and Kashmir High Court Jammu wing in a writ petition challenging the selection of teachers in Srinagar District has issued notice to State of J&K through Chief Secretary, J&K Service Selection Recruitment Board and 15 selected candidates and after hearing Advocate Surinder Kour appearing for the petitioner ordered that in the meanwhile on the of the posts of teacher in SC category shall be reserved in Srinagar District Cadre. This Court order has been passed in a writ petition filed by Etias Bharti who claims to be MA in Hindi with B. Ed and belongs to Scheduled caste category applied for the post of teacher District Cadre Srinagar under SC category as the respondents invited applications vide notification dated December 29, 2005. The respondents invited the candidates for interview, but the petitioner was not invited, upon this petitioner made a representation, respondents again issued a supplementary notification by which more candidates were invited for interview and the petitioner was also invited. It has been submitted in the petition that Chairman SSRB Mr. Farooq Ahmed Mir, conducted the interview of the petitioner and to the utter surprise of the petitioner the list of selected candidates was published on April 26, 2007 and the name of the petitioner did not figure in the select list. The petitioner filed this petition through Adv Surinder Kour in which it has been alleged that respondents have kept their favorites in the selection list who were less qualified and less meritorious than the petitioner and those selected were only 10+2 or B Sc and ignoring the petitioner having done MA B. Ed. It clearly shows that the selection was made against the provisions of principles of natural justice and prescribed criteria and this selection list is a result of nepotism and favoritism.
