JAMMU | JUNE 18 Fossil controversy seems to have arrived to no end as reacting to the claims from the Kashmir University scholars JJSF today protested against the decision of shifting of fossils from JU and also burnt the effigies of Vice chancellor Of Kashmir University and State Government. Addressing the media persons, Pushpinder , President JJSF said that Jammu University has been unnecessarily dragged into the controversy, earlier they kept the precious and matchless fossil abandoned and when the Jammu University wanted it to give due acknowledgement they are making hue and cry. He also criticized the Kashmir University Students who have alleged that Jammu University Students are spreading ‘religionalism’ over the ‘shifting of fossil of a mammoth’ presently kept at University of Jammu . Adding to it he said that fossil was lying in depleted condition for 6years in Pampore and due to the ‘nelson’s eye approach’ and step motherly treatment meted out by the Kashmir University, the excavators Dr G M Bhatt decided to shift to Jammu before the evidence of ancient life vanishes in the passage of time and due to negligence. He also said the due to the callous and negligent attitude the rare fossil has developed cracks and signs of vandalism. He further added that if Kashmir University wants to be adamant on its stand then they should be ready to discuss a lot of things like returning of thousands of Dogra Manuscripts and artifacts that are still lying in valley from the last 50 years. Others who spoke on the occasion were Ram Murti, Asif Iqbal, Partap Singh, Sher Khan, Mukul Dev, Arun Dixit Kumar, Ajay Sharma and Raju Githa.
