New Delhi, August 9,

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh skipped the customary tea hosted by President APJ Abdul Kalam after a function at Rashtrapati Bhavan where 400 freedom fighters were felicitated on Wednesday on the occasion of the 64th anniversary of Quit India Movement.

Singh, who conversed with Vice President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat and Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chaterjee, went off as soon as the invitees started moving for tea.

A battery of mediapersons, waiting for the Prime Minister, were left disappointed as they were escorted to the enclosure where the VVIPs were served tea and snacks.

After waiting for a while, they were told that Singh had already left the venue as he had a pressing engagements.
