| Russian Ambassador calls on CM | | | Srinagar, June 18 - Russian Ambassador in India Mr. Vyacheslav Turbnikov called on Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad here today. During the meeting, Chief Minister apprised the Russian envoy that a multi-pronged strategy has been put in place in the state to address political, economic and social issues simultaneously. Mr. Azad said that three roundtable conferences were convened by Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh in which representatives of people of all shades and areas participated and put forth their view points, adding that dialogue process was also held with separatists and others. After second roundtable conference five working groups were set up to address various issues pertaining to Jammu and Kashmir, Chief Minister said that action is being taken to implement the recommendations made by the working groups. Mr. Azad told Mr. Turbnikov that Prime Minister has approved Rs. 24000 crore reconstruction plan for the state which is being implemented swiftly to raise massive public service infrastructure across Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh. Mr. Azad said that the assembly elections held in the state in 2002 were free and fair, adding that the bye-elections held last year were record breaking so far as turnout and transparency is concerned. Mr. Azad said that the instructions have been given to the security forces that while dealing with militancy, no human rights violations should be allowed to occur
