| Malformed lamb leaves SUKAST scientists puzzled | | | Jammu, June 20 :A team of scientists at the Sher-e- Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST) is working overtime to save the life of malformed lamb after a local farmer Gulab Din, from Sarore area, shifted the newly born with several structural deformities here in RS Pura . The structure of the lamb, has left many scientists here in the SKUAST perplexed and are constantly making efforts to feed the newly born to save its life. Senior scientists at the SKUAST are tightlipped whether the lamb will survive or not as for last more than three days it had neither passed the urine nor stool. "We are only able to feed water through water bottle and syringes. Due to structural deformities it is not possible to feed it properly", a SKUAST student taking care of the lamb said. Meanwhile, for last three days students in the university are looking after the lamb and are eagerly awaiting outcome of the treatment presently going on to ensure survival of the lamb. Dr Shagufta Azmi, Associate Professor and HOD Department Pathology said that in her career she has not seen any animal with such structural deformities. She said that experts are working hard to ensure survival of the lamb .She said few surgeries are required and the final decision to operate would be taken only after ensuring stability of the lamb. We are waiting to perform surgery on the lamb but the same is possible only after it shows signs of partial improvement, she added.
