Equitable development hallmark of government policy planning: Azad
CM addresses public meetings at four inaccessible villages in Doda, Kishtwar

Jammu, June 20 Maintaining that development is subservient to peace and tranquility, Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad Wednesday said that sincere initiatives have been taken by the central and state governments to restore normalcy in Jammu and Kashmir to pull the state out of the morass of economic distress and uncertainty.
Chief Minister was addressing four separate public meetings in remote and inaccessible villages of Brasu, Puneja, Nali Bunjwah and Bimal Nag in Doda and Kishtwar districts. These villages have not so far been provided any road connectivity and each village is habitated by about 15000 to 20000 people.
Referring to the ongoing peace initiatives Chief minister Azad said that thaw in Indo-Pak relations has created conducive atmosphere to address all issues through dialogue process. He said that the state has embarked upon a massive all round development programme and each area is getting due share in the development process. Laying emphasis on speedy completion of schemes already put in place, he said equitable development of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh is the hallmark of his government's policy planning.
Azad said that basic amenities like road connectivity, supply of potable water, electrification and healthcare facilities have been planned to be provided to all villages in next five years. He said hitherto left out rural and hilly areas like Brasu, Puneja, Nali Bunjwah and Bimal Nag would be receiving priority attention.
"Soon after assuming the Chief Ministership of Jammu and Kashmir, I have pledged to ensure equitable development of the state and transform the hilly, backward and remote areas which are deprived of basic amenities. We are committed to change the socio-economic scenario of these areas and catapult development profile", he added.
He said while works programmes to upgrade public service infrastructure in cities and towns are going on, special schemes have been launched to address the needs of rural, backward and far-flung areas. Azad said that in order to sensitize administration about new work culture and make them to redouble efforts for
utilizing vast funds provided by the central government for development in the state, he has held series of meetings with district, tehsil and block officers during last month.
Chief Minister said that the new era of peace and progress is dawning in the state and all of us have to contribute to carry forward development process. He appealed to the people to strengthen amity between various sections of society, adding "unity is imperative for development". Azad was given a rousing reception at all these places by the people who had trekked long distances to listen to him.
Legislators Mr. Mohammad Sharief Niaz and G. M. Saroori also spoke on the occasion.
Earlier, Chief Minister took stock of pace of work on Ganpat bridge over river Chenab at Doda. Among others MLA Abdul Majid Wani, Secretary to Chief Minister Dr. Pawan Kotwal, District Development Commissioner Doda Saurabh Bhagat, SSP Doda Manohar Singh and other senior officers were also present on the occasion.
