Rajouri, June 20
A day after the exhumation of graves, by Rajouri unit of Jammu and Kashmir Police along LoC recovering a Skelton of one of the three missing persons from the area. Unearthing of the skeleton has let a snowball rolling as the bereaved families alleged that the missing were used to ferry narcotics across the LoC in connivance with senior army officials.
Talking to the media person the family members here today on Wednesday told the media that all the three missing persons were in fact informers of army and were being used as the couriers to ferry the narcotics. They even dared to allege that the then Commanding Officer of 18 Dogra was having his hands in gloves with the three missing persons in the narcotic trade across the LoC.
Ascertaining the identity of the exhumed body as Mohammad Yousef (Then 45) son of Raj Mohammad, they said that the rest of the two bodies too are buried in another single pit in the close vicinity of this spot from where the Police found the skeleton on Tuesday. However, the exhumation of other pits will be carried separately for which the date is yet to be decided, they claimed.
The investigating officer of the special team constituted, DY SP Headquarters Rajouri Kulwant Singh Jasrotia said that the missing persons could be working as informers with the said unit in 1997. Jasrotia said that although police has recovered one skeleton from one of the pits identified by the relatives of the missing persons near Kancha post in Peer Badaser area of LoC but it is too early to comment on this issue.
“The exact identification of the body will be ascertained only after the DNA test of the remains recovered is conducted through forensic laboratory”, Jasrotia added and also said that that other pit could not be dug out due to the shortage of time.
Mohammad Farooq brother of Abdul Aziz one of the missing persons with a ray of hope to get justice to the dead souls, said his brother along with two other was working as informer with 18 Dogra unit stationed at Keeri sector in 1997. Recollecting the past he evoked all the three persons were directly working for then CO of the unit identified as Mann Singh. “Abdul Aziz my brother had told the family members that he along with two other Mohd Yousef and Mahammad Aziz were working for 18 Dogra.
Heaving a deep sigh to recall the bitter past, he said Abdul had told us that CO oftenly sends them every week across the LoC to fetch Heroin in packets which later was couriered in bigger markets to make easy bucks.
‘Before their unfateful day, trio who is no more had brought over 20 Kg of Heroin and other narcotics from across the border and handed over the CO Mann Singh,’ accused Farooq. Going beyond he said that prior to its movement in the month of October 1997 all the three couriers were picked up from their houses in village Kotedhara and later were killed in a fake encounter on LoC in Peer Badaser area.
“The Commanding Officer perhaps fearing that if these informers were left alive they would expose him any time that is why he killed them, Farooq added. Demanding the exhumation of another pit in the same area, Farooq said his brother Abdul Aziz and his colleague Mohammad Aziz son of Mohammad Aziz who too had been allegedly buried after their fake encounter in a single pit at the same location. However, the date for the exhumation of the other pit has not been fixed by the administration as yet.
