| Health Ministers of 9 states discuss Chikungunya | | | New Delhi, Jun 21: Health Minister Anbumoni Ramadoss will chair a meeting of the health ministers of nine states in New Delhi to discuss measures to deal with spread of Chikungunya which has affected hundreds of people across the country, especially Kerala. During the meeting the union government the deliberations would be made upon the prevailing health scenario and the threat from the ‘Chikungunya’ and present situation in the participatory states and offer monetary and technical support to them in dealing with the viral disease. Worth to mention the said viral disease which was first detected in the country last year after a gap of 32 years. The ministers from states affected by Chikungunya which include Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Puducherry, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa and Delhi are likely to participate in the meeting to be held in Vigyan Bhavan. The mosquito borne disease has till now affected hundreds of people with many deaths being attributed to the mosquito borne disease in the country. However, the government has denied any deaths occuring due to Chikungunya and said that deaths were due to some other related diseases
