| Niaz demands deployment of SRTC buses on Doda routes | | |
Doda, June 21 Member Legislative Council and Ex. Minister, Mohammad Sharief Niaz today in a telephonic communication with Minister of Transport, Hakeem Mohammed Yaseen raised the issue for deployment of State Road Transport Corporation Bus service to Doda District as the people are facing great difficulties for want of proper transport facilities in the area.
Transport Minister is reported to have assured Niaz that additional SRTC Buses will be deployed shortly as these could not be deployed due to strike of SRTC employees.
Earlier, during the District Development Board meeting held at Doda, Niaz demanded opening of SFC timber sale depot at every Tehsil headquarters of the district so that people can get the timber on cheaper rates avoiding un-necessarily transport charges. He said opening of sales depots at tehsil headquarters will benefit the department from timber theft from the forests.
He also sought transparency in execution of works maintaining that each and every development work should be properly tendered and the preference given to local unemployed youth of the district.
Niaz is also reported to have alleged that some employees of Rural Development Department were harassing and blackmailing the executing agencies for release of their work done payments. He said that he has received several complaints from the executing agencies that the payments are being delayed un-necessarily by the employees of the department and even though after completion of the works their dues are not being released in time and in some cases the payments are being delayed for years together with out any reasons. He sought that the payments should be made to the executing agencies after completion of the respective works within a week’s time after completion of the work and impressed the need for proper directions from the government to all the development departments to this effect.
