DDC holds public darbar at Sudhmahadev

UDHAMPUR, JUNE 21 District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Mr. O.P. Kalandria, accompanied by district officers of various departments, conducted public darbar at Sudhmahadev in tehsil Chenani of district Udhampur to take stock of the problems being faced by the people and initiate steps to address their genuine grievances on the spot.
A large number of local people belonging to village Latti, Sudhmahadev, Maantalai, Naina Devi, Lalab, Pattangarh, Matroi, Kousar and other adjoining villages of Niabat Sudhmahadev participated in the public darbar and apprised the DDC of their problems and demands.
The problems and demands of the people included widening and improvement of Chenani-Sudhmahadev-Maantalie road, Maantalie to Ashram, construction of roads and bridges at Maantalie to Naina Devi, Bupp and Haridawar, opening of Degree College at Maantalie and ZEOs office, LPG centre at Sudhmahadev, construction of Bathrooms—cum-Latrines for Ladies and gents at Sudhmahadev and Maantalai, setting up of Grid station at Sudhmahadev or Maantalie, up-gradation of ECGs to Primary Schools, water supply scheme for village Kosar, Pattangarh, Maantalie, enhancement of K.Oil quota, filling of vacant posts in Education and Health sectors.
In reply to their query of up-gradation of Chenani to Maantalai road, the DDC said that the Chief Executive Officer, Economic Reconstruction Agency (ERA) has already been requested for doing the needful. However, in view of upcoming Sudhmahadev mela, the Executive Engineer, ERA has agreed to conduct patchwork for ensuring smooth flow of traffic during mela days, he added.
With regard to the demand of keeping Tourist Sarai at Sudhmahadev open throughout the year for pilgrims, the DDC informed the audience that Director Tourism has been requested to issue necessary instructions to their subordinate staff to keep the Tourist Sarai open for yatris throughout the year.
Responding to the demand of opening Zonal Education Office at Sudhmahadev and conversion of ECGs into Primary Schools, Kalandria said that the Chief Education Officer has already taken up the matter with the Government. The DDC issued on the spot instruction to Chief Education Officer to take follow up action in the matter so that government accords early approval thereby addressing the grievances of people.
The DDC informed the meeting that to cater to drinking water needs in Kosar village, the Executive Engineer, PHE, Udhampur has prepared a project report and submitted to Chief Engineer, PHE for its approval under Bharat Nirman and follow up action was in full swing to get the water supply scheme approved for the village. Besides, the DDC directed the Tehsil Supply Officer, Chenani to keep adequate stock of K. Oil at Sudhmahadev particularly in view of approaching Sudhmahadev mela.
He asked the people to cooperate with the government agencies to ensure smooth execution of works with specific instructions to officers of different departments to initiate prompt action into other problems highlighted by the people.
