| Shopian town to get face lift | | | SRINAGAR, JUNE 21- Shopian town is being given a major facelift and all the major roads in the town are being renovated. For this purpose, Rs.20 lakh have been released to carry out the necessary renovation and repairs of the roads. This was stated by Minister of State for R & B, Animal and Sheep Husbandry Mohammad Khalil Bandh while interacting to a delegation of Shopian area led by local Member legislative Assembly Mr. Ghulam Hassan Khan. The Minister said the coalition government is committed to upgrade the basic amenities in the state and thrust is being laid to further improve road connectivity particularly in hitherto uncovered and unattended areas. He said Shopian is an important township and creation of new district has been made to ensure further development of the area. Bandh assured the MLA that other demands projected by the people of the area would be attended in a phased manner. He said several schemes and development projects are under way to improve the socio-economic profile of the people living in the district. Several other deputations from various parts of the valley also met the Minister and apprised him of their individual and collective problems. Bandh gave a patient hearing to the deputations and in some cases issued directions to the concerned for early redressal of grievances of public importance.
