6/22/2007 11:46:57 PM

Jammu June 22—
Expressing serious concern over the recent developments in state Jammu State Morcha (Progressive) alleges that this is all due to the directionless and confused policies of government of India that the Jammu state reaches in an unstable position today.
Prof Virender Gupta, President, Jammu State Morcha condemned the role played by the Mangat Ram Sharma as a convener of the committee, constituted for the refugees problem. Gupta said, “Sharma had recommend 2 lakhs as one time settlement to each displace family, whereas the government is providing 2 lakh and 3000/- per month to the militants for joining the mainstream, also government is paying 5 lakhs to the family of the killed by militants as one time compensation’. Alleging both state and union government for adopting the non serious attitude towards the Refugees Problem, Gupta said that the government infact has deliberately adopted dilly dallying approach to this human issue.
Taking strong exceptions of the NC and PDP for their K-centric policies Gupta alleged that both the National Conference and the PDP are creating instability within the state by carrying forward their anti-India slogans by demanding demilitarization when the infiltration is continued unabated and militants mounting pressure on the security forces. He also lambasted on the government that why the government is not taking some action on these traitors, which are demanding return of army from this state.
Referring to the JKNPP’s decision of withdrawing support from the government, Gupta said it is merely an eyewash and political drama. He said that after enjoying comforts of being a part of government and using the government machinery during their term when snapped from ministries they decided to come out of coalition.
He also criticized the huge government exchequer has been wasted for the renovation of chief minister residence at Srinagar. He also accused government for burdening poor people with taxes including taxes on the fruits/vegetables while politicians in powers are living lavishly in their posh bunglows.
He appeals to the Gulam Nabi Azad to review his decision to impose taxes on the fruits and vegetables and asked to exempt taxes on the export of the Basmati rice from Jammu.
