| General Motors launch Chevrolet Optra magnum | | |
Jammu | June 22 General Motors India launched the Chevrolet Optra TCDi diesel sedan magnum, the most powerful luxury car, in Jammu today at a function held at Ritz Manor. Saurabh Vats, Senior Regional Manager Sales-Northern India addressing the media persons on the occasion said that, the Optra diesel extends the value promise of Chevrolet by providing exceptional performance that has never been experienced before. He further said that the focus behind this product was to provide an exhilarating driving experience while retaining the strength of a common rail diesel engine such as good fuel economy, smooth and refined operation. The Optra diesel’s 2.0-litre TCDi (Turbocharged Common Rail Direct Injection) engine utilizes second-generation common rail technology, he added and said that the Optra diesel is faster and more powerful than many petrol driven cars currently on the market, delivering peak power of 120.5 ps and peak torque of 314 Nm (which is more than 100 Nm higher than the Skoda Octavia). The new engine has an Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system for clean and efficient operation and it boasts additional technological innovations like a dual mass flywheel, which significantly reduces vibration. He further added that the Optra diesel comes equipped with disc brakes in back and ventilated disc brakes up front. Even the base model comes with tubeless tyres as standard equipment. Raju Choudhary Managing Director, KC Motors in his address said that we have already received ten hot entries for Optra Magnum and hope it will go up with passage of time. He further said that Optra diesel was initially launched in Korea and Europe a few months ago, much of the testing and fine-tuning was carried out by GM India’s engineering team. Chevrolet Optra Magnum has a mileage of 14 to 16 Km per Litre under specific conditions and its maintenance cost is much lower than other cars in this segment.
