| Mantri teaches top Babus lesson | | Haji Nisar fires salvo on senior officers for not attending DDB meeting | |
Jammu, June 22: Those who thought that the Minister for Social Welfare Haji Nisar Ali can be taken for a ride for this soft attitude were perhaps wrong. For the arrogant bureaucrats the Minister has run his writ quite strong and large that his other colleagues have lesson to learn and the officers who least bother to care for the political establishment have chance to change their attitude. Haji Nisar was recently irked over the absence of some top divisional level officers, some of the rank of IAS, in a meeting he chaired. Refusing to take the things as they come, the Minister instead of giving the bureaucrats a free hand recommended stern action against them. The action he recommended is exemplary in nature and leaving a point of reference for others. According to official sources, the Minister for Social Welfare who is also Chairman District Development Board, Bandipora has recommended that Managing Director, State Forest Corporation, Divisional Youth Services and Sports officer Kashmir, Chief Engineer, ERA Baramulla and Director Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Kashmir, be attached with General Administration Department with immediate effect for not attending the District Development Board meeting at Bandipora. Now it has to be keenly watched whether government honours Haji Nisar’s recommendations or not. He has recommended suspension of these officers to the General Administration Department (GAD). It may mentioned here that the GAD comes under the Chief Minister. An action on Haji’s recommendations can be described as test for the Chief Minister’s claims on accountability of the officers.
