| Inter school tournament concludes at Bani | | Desist from bad habits, drug addiction: Mangat to youth | |
KATHUA, JUNE 25 A 4-day inter school tournament which was organized by Department of Youth Services and Sports, Kathua in the premises of Government Higher secondary School, Bani concluded at Bani yesterday. Minister for Health and Medical Education, Mr. Mangat Ram Sharma was the chief guest on the occasion while Minister of State for Revenue, Finance, Planning and Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Mr. Prem Sagar Aziz presided over the function. The students of various schools presented colorful cultural programme on the occasion, which enthralled the audience and kept them spell bound. While addressing the gathering Mr. Sharma congratulated the people of Bani for the successful organization of mega Sarthal mela and said that the Chief Minister, Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad has laid the foundation stone at Sarthal to develop the area as tourist spot like tourists places in Kashmir valley and Bani will also be developed as tourist place. Mr. Sharma said that the Degree College at Bani would be announced shortly. Mr. Sharma highlighted the importance of education and urged the people to send their wards to the schools and also stressed to educate the females for the betterment of society. Pt Mangat Ram advised the students to desist from bad habits and drug addiction, which are curse to our society. Responding to the demand of construction of youth hostel at Bani, Mr. Sharma assured all possible help. Speaking on the occasion, Minister of state for Finance, Revenue, Planning, Law and parliamentary affairs, Mr. Prem Sagar Aziz appreciated the cultural programme presented by the students and highlighted the importance of sports and games. Mr. Sagar apprised that the Government is popularizing Bani and Sarthal by advertisements and through electronic and print media Mr Prem Sagar recalled the dream of Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad and said that Bani will be connected with Dalhousi( HP) and Bhaderwah with Camba by road Mr. Sagar apprised that the Government will spent more than Rs. 200 cores for the construction of these roads. The tourists of various states through Himachal Pradesh will come to Bani/ Sarthal and Bhaderwah etc by which the un- employment in these areas shall be controlled and the socio- economic condition of the people will improve. He scounted the achievements of present collation Government headed by Ghulam Nabi Azad and said that Rs. 34 lakhs have been released for the construction of additional rooms at Higher Secondary school Bani. District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Kathua presented the vote of thanks and apprised that 1300 students from 35 schools of Bani area participated in the tournament. Both the Ministers handed over trophies to the winner and runner up teams and announced the reward of Rs. 5000 to the students. Earlier at Mahanpur, the Health Minister sanctioned Rs. 1.50 crore for Accidental Hospital at Mahanpur. Various deputations from Nagrota, Basohli, Bhoond met the Minister and apprised him about their problems. The Minister listened to their problems patiently and assured that their genuine demands will be redressed. Among others, SDM, Bani, Mr. Ravi Kant Verma, SDPO, Basohli, Mr. Mushtaq Ahmed, tehsil level officers, prominent citizens, students and large umber of people were present on the occasion.
