| Taj chairs meeting to revive woolen industry in the state | | | Srinagar, June 25 - A high level meeting was held here today under the chairmanship of Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) and Sheep and Animal Husbandry Mr. Taj Mohi-ud-Din to discuss matters relating to the revival of Sick Government Woolen Mills Bemina. Speaking in the meeting, the Minister reminded the officers of the popularity of Kashmir Woolen products throughout Asia and called for putting in all efforts to restore the pristine glory of this industry in the state. The Minister expressed concern over continuous slump of Bemina Woolen Mills despite the availability of raw material, men and machinery. He said strategy for revival of Sick units will help in making the defunct units functional and give boost to local products. Mr. Taj said that the government departments including Health, Police and Tourism Department etc will be asked to purchase all woolen products from the Government Wool Board and Woolen Mills. Among others Commissioner Secretary Industries and Commerce Mr. Lokesh Jha, Secretary Sheep and Animal Husbandry Sheikh Nissar Ahmad, Managing Director Wool Board Dr. Yousuf Hussan, Managing Director J&K Industries and Development Corporation Mr. A. A. Ashai, Director Handloom Mrs. Nirmal Sharma, Director Budget Mr. Ravi Mangotra and senior officers of concerned department also attended the meeting.
