Since the introduction of mobile services from BSNL in 2003, the people were bothered about the models of the handsets but a new bug has bitten the cellular savvy sections as they are now more bothered about the ring tones these days.
Worth to mention, that ever since the cellular service players namely BSNL, Airtel and Aircel have come up with the ring tone modes, the mobile consumers are more concerned and cautious about the tones these days. The ring tones keeps a dialer busy and interested in tone till the response is given from the other side otherwise the plain ringers usually make the dialer irate if the response is delayed, said a mobile owner.
Vivek Kalra of Kings Electronics at Indira Chowk said, Punjabi and English ring tones are more loved by the young generation while the aged group prefers the religious tones.
‘Though the people at one hand complain and carp about the extra changes incurred to them while searching their favourites or the choicest ring tones, said Rakesh Sharma.
Another mobile savvy youth also said that the ring tones have now become portrait of your style thus it has become trendy these days. When asked if the enthusiasm for the new ring tone is costly, he said that for the leisure pursuit there is no value for the choice.
Harsh Gupta a university goer also said that the ring tones launched from various cellular providers not only have created a competition within the consumers to search for the unique and special tones but also for projecting his/her personality different from the others. He said to surf the choicest number a consumers has to dial on 567 at BSNL where the charges are Rs4/- per minute and one can surf for his choice for the English, the Hindi and the Punjabi number to be selected as ring tone while the charges to surf for the Airtel ring tones are Rs 6/-per minute.
Vikas Sharma a computer engineer fond of changing ring tones more often said this has given the cellular clientele a variety from the monotonous ring tones and flaunted that these days he has ‘Chandni Raatein’ on his mobile as ring tones.
A BSNL official on the authorized anonymity told that majority of the people have preferred the ring tone - Main Agar Mil Na Saku Tujhe To Meri Justju Tu Na Karna and Chandni Raatein. At the same time some opt for the religious tones and very few go for patriotic songs, he said.
