R S PURA | June 26
Notwithstanding the tall claims of the authorities of having installed high power transmission system across the state, especially in the border belts, the inhabitants of R S Pura town and its neighboring areas, just 18 kms from the winter capital, are deprived of Indian programs on AIR and FM Radios due to the flooding of high powered transmission from across the border. Isn’t the part of the Confidence Building Measures or the failure of the Union I&B Ministry, the people ask? The way the channels from across the border are clear and visible, belies the claims of the concerned Ministry of having turned the corner in the Information and Broadcasting technology.
The people in R S Pura Belt and its adjoining pockets are open to the highly powered transmission of Pakistan FM Channels and even the TV tuners in this border belt failed to resist this highly boosted telecast signals. The people are forced to listen and watch the Pak Programs on their radios and the TVs, courtesy the weak and feeble signals from the Indian channels .‘Radio and Television channels of Pakistan are easily enjoyed in the border town, says Varinder Singh of R S Pura adding the three main Radio frequencies of FM channels from across have hit the area while the frequencies of local FM channel, the Vivid Bharti and 92.7 FM are faintly captured once in a blue moon.’ He irefully lamented if it is propaganda from the other side or a part of ongoing CBMs.
According to reports, three Pakistani’s FM channels viz. 91.0FM, 89.0FM and 104.0FM, usually hit the radio sets in late evenings daily depriving people from listening to their favorites songs on Vividh Bharti, 92.7 FM and FM Rainbow.
Talking to ET reporter, Praveen Singh of Straiyan said that whenever he switches on his radio set, especially after 6 pm, the Pakistani channels are tuned very clearly and without any distortion.’ Of the all channels, the sound 104.0FM is clear and without any distortion, he adds.
Vijay Lakhotra and Ankush Kumar of Gagian R S Pura also shared the similar views and said whenever they switch on their radios , it gets connected to Pakistan Radio- Punjabi programme ‘NASRANA’ on 104.0 FM which is hosted by Muddassr Raina and Mishaal.
The Punjabi songs of Indian pop stars are also heard on these channels which include the numbers from Jazzy, Gurdass Mann and Hans Raj Hans and many others. They also said that other channels 89.0FM and 91.0FM also pesent the Indian Hindi songs, particularly ‘Moula Mere Moula’, from-Guru and ‘Pyar Karke Pachtaya’ from-Kis Kis ki Kismat.
Not only this, the highly powered Pak TV Channels too has eclipsed the Indian signals channels, flooded from Lahore, Pakistan namely STN, PTV World and Pakistan.
It is to mention that Pakistan’s Radio FM and TV Channels have also hit the Rajouri, Poonch and Samba respectively and hardly any Indian channel is visible in these areas and same is the case with Radio programs. Though the inhabitants are much more concerned about the programs being telecast and broadcast by the Indian channels but are deprived of the same due to the poor transmission net work and easy accessibility not withstanding the tall claims of having installed the high power transmission system.
The inhabitants question as to how long they would have to wait for listening to the local programs being run by both Doordarshan,
