| BJP Mahila Morcha gathers support to save “Ram Setu” | | | Jammu June 26— With the ingoing protests to save “Sri Ram Setu” BJP, Mahila Morcha started a signature campaign, here today to garner public support against the UPA Government’s decision to ‘destroy’ Ram Setu. State BJP Mahila Morcha, President, Usha Chowdhary, is spare heading the signature campaign. Nearly 3000 people have visited the campaigning venue. Ram Setu Bridge was built thousands years ago, by Vanar Sena of Hanuman Ji to cross over to Sri Lanka where Mata Sita was kept hostage by Ravana, said Usha Chowdhary “This bridge has special and religious attachment with the Hindus world wide and the decision of the UPA government to destroy this bridge had hurt the religious sentiments of millions of people.”, she added. ‘To save this ancient and historical bridge’, she demanded that ‘it should be declared a national monument by the Union Government and handed over to the international society, UNESCO’, which preserves these monuments, if Indian agencies are helpless to preserve this historical monument. She asserted that Morcha would oppose this decision of the Government and will go to the masses to make them aware of the anti-Hindu policies of the Congress led government. Other prominent activists, who took park in this signature campaign, include Suman Jamwal, Reader Department of History of University of Jammu, Suresh Jamwal, Mamta Singh, Sushma Manhas, Sangeeta Gupta and Priya Sethi.
