Jammu, May 27: On the opening day of 23rd Mini National Volleyball Championship, J&K Boys team defeated Odissa State by sets 3-0 (Score 25-22, 25-17, 25-15) at Erode, Tamil Nadu. The Mini National Championship organized by Tamil Nadu State Volleyball Association was declared open at Erode (Tamil Nadu) on 27thMay, 2015 upto 31st May, 2015. In all, 19 teams in Boys Section from different states of India are participating. J&K team placed in 'Pool B' and will play matches against Pondicherry, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh.
In the opening match against Odissa, J&K team players namely Syeed Anwar from Kulgam and Imtiyaz Javed from Poonch displayed their magnificent skills and dominated the opponent team in achieving easy victory. The Boys Team played under the overall supervision of Mohd Tariq Volleyball Coach from Poonch. The President Volleyball Association of J&K Siddharth Daluja congratulated the boys team for their excellent performance in the opening match and wished them best of luck in future as well.
In Girls Section, J&K team lost from Uttar Pradesh by sets 3-0 (Score 15-25, 12-25, 15-25). J&K Girls Team participated in National Championship for the 2nd time and could not perform well. Around 18 girls team from different states of India are participating in the championship and J&K Girls team is placed in 'Pool C' and will play next matches against Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Kerala States.
