| Three arrested for smuggling wood | | | Jammu | June 26 Arnia police today arrested three persons and recovered large quantity of wooden logs from their possession when they were allegedly smuggling the same. According to reports, police today received specific information following which a police party led by SHO Arnia under the supervision of SSP Border Rajinder Gupta swung into action and laid a naka in the area. During checking police stopped a tractor trolley without number plate and recovered large quantity of sheesham wood that was loaded in the vehicle without any authorization and arrested three persons namely Tilak Raj son of Karam Chand resident of Chak Goria, Treva, Prem Lal son of Ruldo Ram resident of Pawal and Shamsher Singh son of Pukha Ram. Police took them to police station for further interrogation. Police has also registered a case in this regard and is investigating the matter. Meanwhile Arnia police has also arrested an army deserter who was absconding for last some months. He has been identified as Sohan Lal son of Charan Singh resident of New Plot. He was arrested from his native village and later handed over to concerned authorities for further necessary action.
