| Diploma engineers criticize senior officials, highlight demands | | |

District unit of Diploma Engineers Association have blamed divisional level officers of misusing their official positions for their own vested interest.
Addressing a press Conference here today, District president of the association Engineer
Syed Ajaz Ahmed alleged that some senior officers of the department were meeting out step motherly treatment with the junior engineers.
"Some officials are misusing their official position and were issuing orders beyond their powers", he said adding "this attitude has not only affected the functioning of the department but has also severely affected the developmental activities in Kishtwar district"
Ajaz urged the senior officials and the minister concerned to look in the matter so that these officials can be booked for their unfair practices.
Speaking on the occasion unit president of the association Engineer Mohammad Aslam said that the Diploma Engineers across the state may adopt agitation path in case government failed to concede the long pending demands of the cadre.
"We have been urging the government to cl1nngc the designation of diploma engineers, after a specified period but the authorities seem to be sleeping on the issue" he said, adding, if government failed to fulfill this demand the association will resort to agitation
Other demands of association, he said, include enhancement of quota at various levels and elevation of diploma engineers as the pattern of other state like HP, Uttranchal, Rajasthan Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh and Mahrashtra.
He said even in the public sector the diploma engineers are being designated as executive engineers, S. F. and chief' Engineer, but the government was not paying any heed to the demands of its own employees,
The association also urged the government to implement recommendations of cabinet decision No 147 and 247 of 1987 that was followed by government order no 455 of 29-06-1987.
Expressing its full support to its provincial body, the association members said, "We are ready to take any step as per the direction of our provincial leader for the cause of diploma engineers"
