| Rs.1.40 cr police complex electrification scam | | Court grants anticipatory bail to contractor | | JAMMU, JUNE 27- Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu Mr. Kartar Singh today granted anticipatory bail in favour of Sheikh Javaid s/o Sheikh Ghulam Mustafa a contractor allegedly involved in Rs 1.40 crores police complex scam. The accused/petitioner has filed this bail petition in which Advocate VR Wazir appeared seeking bail in anticipation of his arrest in case FIR No 17/2007 u/s 5(2) of PC Act 2006 r/w section 120-B RPC. Special Judge Anticorruption today while granting interim bail directed Chief Prosecuting Officer for Vigilance Organization for obtaining a detailed report and filling objections. In the meanwhile, Court directed that in the event of arrest, petitioner Sheikh Javaid shall be admitted to interim bail on his furnishing bail bond and personal bond in the amount of Rs 10,000 each with the direction that he shall attend the investigation as and when required. VOJ had registered a case against Neeraj Magotra and Sheikh Javaid, contractors, yesterday after conducting verifications in the allegations of over charging in electrification works and installation of flood lights of various offices of the police department including the armed police complex Channi-Himmat. The accused had charged over Rs.36.15 lakh on account electrification work while as per the market rate the amount should not have exceeded Rs 24.68 lakhs
