Arrangements for Kargil Festival -2007 were finalized at a meeting of District Officers held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil R.K. Bhagat here today.
Arrangements like power supply, drinking water, transport, boarding and lodging for the participants and visitors were discussed in detail.
The 5- day Kargil Festival- 2007 is being organized at Khree Sultan Chaoo Sport Stadium, here from July 10 next.
During the Festival, cultural programmes by the various cultural troupes of the district, horse polo, Archery matches and custom shows of different cultural organizations are being organized. Handicrafts, handloom, food and fruit sale cum exhibition will be the main attraction of this year’s festival.
Photo exhibition depicting ancient and modern Kargil and other recreational activities will also be held during the festival.
About 350 artists of different troupes like Darchik-Garkhone, Wakha-Mulbekh, Bodh Kharbu, Khukshow, Sapi, Shegole, Shina Drass, Balti and Prik are taking part in the festival.
The meeting, among others, was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Fida Hussain, Superintending Engineer, Haji Neyaz, ACD, Abdul Wahid, Chief Planning Officer and other district officers.
