| Batwal community demands repeal of SRO 294 | | |

The activists of ‘Batwal community’ in a meeting chaired by R.L. Kaith, discussed the controversies, arising out due to the controversial SRO 294 issued on October 21, 2005.
As per release members condemned the said SRO, curtailing their reservation rights in employment, professional colleges etc in the state.
Meeting was told that a number of memorandum of demands were submitted to the Chief Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad for sympathetic consideration, but till date nothing substantial has been done in the matter.
Activists also alleged that every year a number of student of the community submit their application forms for sanction of scholarships but the same are not sanctioned and the students being poor give up their studies half way.
