Recent bashing of reformed militant Zaffar Bhat by Shiv Sena (Thackrey) has once again raised doubts about accelerated activities from the separatist elements in the Jammu region. Now, people in Jammu are questioning about the endeavor of separatist elements toiling new grounds in Jammu in particular when the so-called proponents of Jammu’s cause lie in deep slumber.
Not only hardliner Geelani has visited Jammu but moderate Hurriyat leader late A G Lone too had visited the winter capital. The separatist elements have never been welcomed in Jammu only because of their anti-Indian sloganeering. If recalled here, each separatist leader has faced the ire of the Jammu people during his visit, said Sansar Chand of Kanak Mandi.
He said, “ Krishan Maharaj of Shiv Sena manhandled late lone during his stay at K C Residency, Shiv Sena and Janta party has disrupted the press conference convened by the Sayed Ali Shah Geelani.’
Jammu based parties also demanded the action against the Geelani and his supporters for raising Pro-Pakistan sloganeering in Jammu on Eid occasion last year. ‘And the same anger then boiled over when the reformed hardcore from Hizb rank Zaffar Akbar Bhat was manhandled and bashed by the Shiv Sena on the allegation of flaring anti-India sentiments.
Zaffar, during a press conference at Rajouri Poonch has asserted that India has betrayed the Hizb on ceasefire issue in 2001 and had alleged a conspiracy in killing of the Hizb leaders.
Surprisingly, all this happened in Jammu where many Pro Jammu forces claim to be the champions of the Jammu’s cause. These forces remained in deep slumber and even not bothered to offer a lip service on the visit of the separatist elements.
Jammu State Morcha, Jammu Mukti Morcha, People’s Revolutionary Movement, Duggar Pradesh Party, Dogra Liberation Front et al failed to fence their boundaries in Jammu and let the defence open making the separatist elements to gain grounds in Jammu.
Suresh Sharma of Purani Mandi and supporter of People’s Revolutionary Movement (PRM) though claimed that PRM is all set to create awareness among people of this region about their victimization at the hands of Kashmiri rulers and Kashmir based politics but failed to reply about the accelerated politics from separatist elements in Jammu.
‘Few week ago another platform namely Jammu State Morcha (Progressive) had emerged to carry forward the fight for the cause of Jammu, but it too failed to counter the challenge and the strong campaign waged by the separatists forces in the Jammu region, said M L Gupta a bank employee giving vent to his anger about the ignoring the sensitive issue.
