| Truck seized with illegal wood | | |

Samba police today seized a large quantity of wood loaded illegally in a truck and also arrested one person in this regard.
Acting on specific information that wood was being smuggled in a truck, the police swung into action. A policy party under the supervision of SSP Border Rajinder Gupta and SDPO Samba laid a Naka near Chichi Mata Khad (Manser More) and. during checking one Jonga No. JK-08A-0146 loaded with fire wood was seized and its driver Bushan Kumar S/O Shamboo Nath Jogi R/o Gatha District Doda was arrested and police took him to police station for further interrogation and also registered a case under section 15/16 Forest Act in this regard
Besides, Samba Police also seized two scooters PB-58-9843 and JK02L-2086 and one Motor without registered number as also a Truck bearing number JK- 03A 1978 without valid documents. In addition, three trucks bearing No. JK 08- 2475, PB-06 F- 2445 and. JK 02 B- 0687, were challaned for over loading during checking.
Meanwhile in its continuous drive against the menace of illicit distillation and its consumption in the district, Border Police conducted a special raid during the intervening night of June 27-28 at Dhabas run by Pappu and Prem Nath located at Salhar road in R. S. Pura On seeing Police party, the accused who were consuming liquor at the Dhabas made their escape good. However, some empty bottles/Frooties containing small quantity of liquor were seized. A case under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Arnia.
