| Workshop on teaching Hindi language concludes | | | Jammu, June 29 The five-day workshop on teaching Hindi language and Biology for teachers of all the Army Schools of Western Command conducted at Army School, Jammu Cantt and Army School, Domana concluded here today. The teachers attending the workshop were taught the nuances of language teaching skills and new methodology in teaching science subjects to make it more interesting. The Hindi trainee teachers were educated on the important facets of phonetics, diction, intonation, accent etc which are absolutely important for a multi-lingual country like India. The point of being explicit and lucid while communicating was driven home clearly. Major General Sanjeev Loomba, General Officer Commanding, 26 Infantry Division while addressing the gathering emphasized on the importance of language teaching skills. The General also exhorted the science teachers to lay more emphasis on the practical aspects while teaching science subjects. Citing the impressive strides made by Indians in the field of science in general and the IT industry in particular, the Patron highlighted the importance of making science teaching more simulative. He further added that teachers should encourage students to emulate the feat of great scientists. While urging the teachers to be empathetic to the needs of the students and parents, the Patron reminded them of the importance of achieving outstanding results. The General Officer Commanding complimented both the Army Schools for successfully conducting the workshop, which enabled the teachers to refine and hone their teaching skills, a Defence release said.
