| Dogri Sanstha organizes ‘Bhajan Sandhya’ | | | Jammu | June 29 An impressive ‘Bhajan Sandhya’ was organized by Dogri Sanstha in collaboration with J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages here today. Several budding signers including Krishna Kumari, Naveen Sharma, Rita Rani, Vijay Salathia, Vivek Mohan, Asthan Raina and Deepak Watar sung Bhajans. On this occasion, a Dogri Novel ‘Joul’ written by Inderjeet Kesar was also released by former MP D.C. Prashant. The Bhajans were composed by Brij Mohan while Shashi Pathania threw light on the linguistic usage in the novel. Earlier welcoming the audience and chief guest, Veena Gupta, General Secretary of Dogri Sanstha, gave brief account of activities of the Sanstha to enrich Dogri culture and language in the state. Lalit Magotra, president, Dogri Sanstha in his welcome address regretted that proper assistance and support was not forthcoming from the Government for the promotion of the ancient Dogri language Municipal Corporator Bansi Lal Gupta who was the special invite at the function appreciated the organizers for arranging Bhajan Sandhya. He said, “Bhajans are more important than the folk songs in the promotion of language”. He also urged upon the writers to use this language in all means of modern media and assured that he will take up the matter with the government and arrange adequate support for promotion and development of the Dogri language.
