| Azad’s tenure mixture of successes, failures: Deep Singh | | | JAMMU June 30- While hailing some of the positive decisions of the Azad led government in the state, President People’s Action and Accountability Deep Singh, has alleged that the government has failed in much talked about restoration of work culture and eradication of corruption from the administration. While analyzing the tenure of Azad as Chief Minister, Deep Singh in a statement said that ‘it was his good luck and of course his political wisdom due to which he (Azad) managed his Chief Minister- ship despite so many hurdles created either from Mufti Mohammed Sayeed or his rivals within the state as well as in Congress high command at Delhi. He said that though Azad has succeeded on some fronts like creations of new districts and allocation of funds as due share to the neglected areas of the state but on the other it has failed on some other fronts. He said in the broader aspect and the existing situation of that time, when so many forces were active to disturb the internal peace and brotherhood while exploiting the regional sentiments and the egoistic political supremacy, Azad was the appropriate choice as the Chief Minister. However, the statement added that like other politicians he also made big statements without knowing the fact that such revolutions cannot be possible with a political certainty that could not be raised here since 1947. Alleging that corrupt politicians in the coalition government will never allow growing such healthy trends adding that vigilance organization of the state is just being stopped to look towards the working of the Ministers, MLAs, MLCs and is only confined to nab the Patwaries, Clerks or at the most executive engineers. The statement further alleged that the government has failed to implement the recommendations of the State Accountability Commission. Deep Singh quoting some senior and reputed officers in the administration as having said that that ‘no doubt CM is sincere and wanted to do some good for the state but is helpless because of the non cooperation of his party men and the hurdles created from the coalition partners’. ‘Without damaging his image more’, Deep Singh said, ‘Azad must step down and go for fresh elections as it will be in the interest of the Congress high command to sincerely stand with Azad at this juncture’.
