| Drug mafia progressing with Khaki connivance | | |

An alleged a nexus between police officials and a drug mafia based in Srinagar has spread its tentacles and is becoming a social menace for the society in the Jammu. The drug mafia has its focused working area adjoining the General bus stand and the railways station in Jammu and some spots at the national highway feeling it more convenient for its functioning, well placed sources revealed.
As per highly placed sources, the drug mafia has roped in some officers in the special branch who are allegedly safe guarding the involved peddlers and others involved in the networking of the smuggling of the narcotics substances.
Sources said that on an average of the over fifty thousands of rupees the narcotics substances including charas, ganja and other items were exchanged within the network of the drug peddlers and the addicts. Further informing about the network sources said that the smaller couriers and the peddlers even dare to smuggle the consignments to the smaller towns like Udhampur, Kathua Rajouri and Poonch and also bring the other consignments from these areas for their mentors. Sources alleged that ‘the easy money’ could the motive and the inspiration that has also allured some of the bigwigs from the trading sector in this business also as names of some known traders are also linked with this unholy nexus.
Giving further information the sources revealed that a Srinagar based drug mafia king who is a known businessman is involved in this nexus and is making a good harvest from this unholy trade in the city of temples in association with some men in khaki who also had become a medium in delivering the consignment in official vehicles and so as to run a care trafficking.
Sources said seven to eight persons were active in the gang in which three of them were posted in District special branch Jammu and they were himself supply the drug in different parts of the city and out of city. The said gang members have sharp brain and using their power in their business if they found that anybody are trying to selling drugs in the city they use their power and put them behind the bars. Sources said that if they came to know that someone have know about their illegal business they also make any forgery case about him and put them behind the bars, some month back two persons know their drug business and try to told some senior officer they himself trap them in a forgery case and took them in the lock up and now they were in District jail this is not enough some day back they trapped a another drug peddler from Indira Chowk area who were also selling the drug in the city on very low rates. Sources said the said gang was also helped the police in some cases for their benefit and they were running their business with out any fear.
