| SASB airlifts seriously injured pilgrims | | |
SRINAGAR, JULY 3- Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) has airlifted two critically injured pilgrims from the Holy Cave Shrine of Shri Amarnathji to Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences, Srinagar for specialized treatment.
One person was killed and seven others were injured, two of them seriously, due to shooting stones- 700 meters away from the Cave Shrine last night, according to Director Public Relations, SASB, Mr Madan Mantoo.
He said the body of dead pilgrim, Mrs Devidy Brady, 40 of Silcher, Assam was brought to Baltal this morning. The Chief Executive Officer, SASB, Dr Arun Kumar coordinated the arrangements for airlifting the seriously injured pilgrims to Srinagar. Other injured are being locally treated and their health status monitored, he said, adding that the charges for airlifting the pilgrims have been borne by the Board
Meanwhile, Governor and the Chairman, SASB, Lt. Gen (Retd) S K Sinha has expressed shock and grief over the death of Mrs Brady in the unfortunate shooting stone incident. He has conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family. Dr Arun Kumar has also condoled the death of the pilgrim and prayed for early recovery of the injured.
