Jammu July 3 Sunjuwan Brigade organized training followed by a firing competition amongst the Village Defence Committee (VDCs) members of Arnia and Devigarh areas at Sunjuwan Short Range here today. The aim of the training was to make people competent to defend themselves in emergency situation. Addressing the VDC members, Brigadier RS Jamwal, Commander Sunjuwan Brigade assured the villagers that the Army would leave no stone unturned in ensuring the safety, security and progress of the border villages. Exuding faith upon VDCs, Brigadier Jamwal said that VDC are an important part of security system and security. He said hence the army is trying to encourage them to prepare themselves for the challenges that lie ahead, and contribute meaningfully in growth of the Nation. More than 60 VDC members from Ala, Chana Camp, Chak Sandran, Changeh, Chak Ramdas, Devigarh (Chak Bola), Jabwal, Kotli Qazian, Kadwal Camp, Kaku De Kothey, Kothey Maley, Mule Chak, Nekowal, Pindi Kadwal, Kotla Camp, Pindi Charkan, Chak Shera, Sai Kalan, Sai Kalan (Tangli), Sai Khurd, Talahar, Treva, Rangpur Treva, Kotli Bhahwana, Salehr, Marol, Shekhupur and Kiryal Khurd villages participated in the training cum competition. After the formal weapon training the VDCs from various age groups enthusiastically participated in the firing competition. The participants expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Sunjuwan Brigade for organizing this training event so as to make them competent enough to defend their villages in hour of crisis. The villagers also expressed their desire that such camps should be conducted at regular interval so as to imbibe a sense of self-confidence and boost their confidence in dealing with an adverse situation.
