| Court imposes fine of Rs.2000 to seed dealers | | | UDHAMPUR, JULY 03 To provide quality of seed, pesticides and fertilizers being provided to the farmers, the Enforcement Wing of Agriculture Department, Udhampur lifted 65 samples of seeds, 96 of fertilizers and 15 samples of pesticides from different licensed shops and factories of district Udhampur including newly created district Reasi since April, 2007 till date. According to Enforcement Inspector of Agriculture Department, Mr. Balbir Singh Bhatyal six seed samples and one of insecticide were found sub standard after conducting tests in Talab Tillo, Jammu Agriculture Laboratory. The cases of these sub standard items were sent to the Court for imposing fine. The Mobile Magistrate, Udhampur imposed a fine of Rs.500 each to four sub standard seed dealers and the case of insecticide is under process in the Court of law. The dealers who have been fined include M/S Sanjay Pansari, Slathia Chowk, Udhampur, M/S Himalayan Pansari, M/S Arora Seeds and M/S Puneet Traders, Mukerjee Bazar, Udhampur. All the dealers and shopkeepers have been warned not to sell sub-standard seeds, fertilizers and pesticides to farmers after seeking license from the competent authority.
