| Education given new thrust: Peerzada | | |
Srinagar July 03 Minister for Education Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed conducted extensive tour of Magam, Sonabrari and Wangam areas of Kokernag constituency and met cross section of people to get feed back about the facilities being provided by the government under various schemes. Mr. Sayeed directed the officers to complete the ongoing development works in time to ensure benefits reach people as per schedule. Mr. Sayeed also addressed public meetings at Magam, Sonabrari and Wangam and apprised the people about the developmental and welfare activities being undertaken by the government. He said several programmes for eradication of illiteracy, poverty and corruption are under implementation. He said that peace was a must for development and progress and appealed to the people to contribute in restoration of lasting peace in the state. Asking people to the vigilant about the nefarious designs of vested interests, Mr. Sayeed said that certain elements are bent upon disturbing peaceful atmosphere of the state. He said that central and state governments are working to strengthen peace and usher an era of development in J&K. Counseling parents to admit their wards in government schools, Mr. Sayeed said that government schools are being provided with better infrastructure and teaching staff. Expressing grief over the loss of precious lives during last two decades of turmoil, Mr. Sayeed said that the disturbances in the state only resulted in devastation. He called for maintaining communal harmony and brotherhood to strengthen secular and democratic fabric of the state. Minister was accompanied by several district officers, including Chief Education Officer Anantnag, Mr. Khursheed Ahmad and Mr. Gh. Mohi-ud-Din Bhat.
