| Unemployed electropathic doctors reluctant to give up | | Union Health Minister’s aides negotiating with agitators’ | | Gulzar Razvi Srinagar, July 3 The electropathic unemployed doctors, who climbed to a mobile tower yesterday, as part of their protest, refused to come down despite repeated attempts by the government officials here today. The agitation gained strength with the parents of the unemployed electropathic doctors joining the protest here today. The three doctors, who were atop to the tower since yesterday, were adamant to continue their protest from the mobile tower to press for their demands. During the day, the administration made several attempts to pacify the agitating doctors but failed to achieve any success. However, one of the agitating doctors, Rashid, who was not keeping well, was provided immediate treatment. Sensing the mood of the agitators, the government had deputed Tehsildar, Srinagar, to persuade the agitating doctors to come down from the tower but they were reluctant to give up their agitation unless their demand was conceded by the government. Meanwhile, the agitating doctors also turned down the appeal of the Panthers Party Chief Prof Bhim Singh to call off the strike. Bhim Singh had visited the spot in the wee hours today and offered juice to the agitating doctors who are on fast unto death in support of their demand. They not only refused to oblige the visiting leader but reiterated to continue the strike till their demand was met. It is worthwhile to mention that Union Health Minister A.Ramdoss, who on currently on an official visit to the Valley, sent his staff members to meet the protesting doctors. The meeting was still on when the last reports came in. How far they would succeed in persuading the agitators to withdraw the strike, only time will tell?
